Test Process Improvement

Good Practices.

Literature

Here you have the option of downloading some whitepapers from the areas of quality, test and process management. These are free of charge, but may be used only with the prior consent of the author outside the private area.

Test Process Improvement

The TPI® Model offers a framework to determine the weak and strong areas of a testing process in an organization. The model contains a maturity model to assess a process, a test maturity matrix, checklists and improvement suggestions and activities. One of the main reasons for developing the model was that testing is to be considered as an important, but difficult and uncontrolled process. The model could be a guideline to make improvement of the testing process easier.

Rational Unified Process

RUP® is a commercial product of Rational Software and offers a configurable software development process platform. The framework provides development teams with a common set of software development best practices. The process model can easily be adapted to the specific needs of projects and teams and for each stage of a project. As notation language Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used.

Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a quality philosophy and science of reducing costs and improving customer satisfaction through variation reduction, statistical and lean methods. It uses customer-focused goals and measurements to establish continuous improvement at all levels of an organization.

Capability Maturity Model

The CMM® and the actual Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI) is an integrated model for system and software engineering process improvement, integrated product and process development improvement and supplier sourcing. It integrates best practices from disciplines such as software engineering and management, systems engineering and software acquisition that were typically addressed as separate improvement initiatives in the past.

ISO 9001

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) promotes standards to facilitate international trade. The external quality management systems requirements, ISO 9001, contain specific elements that a company quality system must contain for compliance and subsequent certification. The standards do not specify how a company is required to implement the essential elements. The requirements are generic and broadly suited to any industrial or economic activity.
